Full Description

Escape the high-rises and fast pace of modern Tokyo and uncover the nostalgic charm of Yanaka, part of the “Yanesen” area (Yanaka, Nezu, Sendagi). This tranquil neighborhood has preserved much of its Edo-period atmosphere and is filled with historic temples, narrow winding lanes, and traditional wooden homes.

Your professional local guide will walk you through this beautifully preserved district, offering cultural insights and hidden stories that reveal a Tokyo rarely seen by tourists.

Start with Tennoji Temple, one of the area’s most notable Buddhist sites, before continuing through Yanaka Cemetery, a peaceful space with over 7,000 graves and beautiful cherry blossom trees in spring.

Stop to browse Yanaka Ginza, a retro shopping street that evokes Tokyo of the 1950s, full of artisanal goods, sweet shops, and local food stalls.

Along the way, discover literary corners where renowned Japanese writers once found inspiration, and enjoy panoramic views from the area’s slopes over the maze of old backstreets.
