Discover the rich history and culinary techniques behind Japan’s iconic bento box in this immersive morning cooking class in Kyoto.

The bento, a balanced and beautifully arranged takeaway meal, has been a part of Japanese culture since the Kamakura period (1185–1333). In this 2.5 to 3-hour session, you’ll explore the components that make a typical bento: sushi, miso soup, tempura, and teriyaki chicken.

After a brief introduction, you’ll receive your ingredients, apron, and utensils. Then, follow the instructors step-by-step as they guide you through the preparation process. Along the way, you’ll learn useful cooking techniques, knife skills, and the meaning behind traditional Japanese presentation.

At the end of the class, sit down and enjoy your self-made bento in a friendly, relaxed setting.
