Full description

Discover a side of Kyoto that few travelers ever get to see. This unique experience includes rare access to a private Ochaya (teahouse) or private residence where you’ll meet a Maiko and a former Geiko in an intimate and authentic setting.

Your experience begins with a short walking tour through Gion, Kyoto’s famous geisha district. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, stroll along historic streets where geisha still live and train today. This part of the tour gives context and background that enhances the encounter to come.

At the teahouse, enjoy a live performance from a Maiko and Geiko—an elegant and refined glimpse into Japan’s centuries-old performing arts tradition. Following the performance, sit down for a personal Q&A session, where the Maiko and Geiko share insights into their lives, training, and the customs of their world. A translator will be present to assist.

This is far more than a show—it’s a cultural exchange and a rare glimpse into Kyoto’s most exclusive tradition.
