Over the years, the pageant has expanded to include multiple streets and public spaces, featuring both professional and community-created light installations.
The illumination festival combines modern LED technology with traditional Japanese attention to seasonal aesthetics, offering a visually stunning experience that highlights Takasaki’s urban charm while connecting visitors to the city’s cultural heritage.
The 2025-2026 Takasaki Pageant of Starlight runs from October 31, 2025, to March 1, 2026, illuminating the city during the long winter nights. The event showcases over 1 million LED lights decorating Symphony Road, the Takasaki Station West Exit, and surrounding streets.
Visitors can enjoy spectacular reflections on the moat near the Takasaki Castle Ruins, stroll along brightly lit streets, and admire community-created “Canvases of Light” by local children. Special seasonal displays, including a towering 6-meter Flower Tree and a Christmas market in December, add festive cheer to the city center.
The event is ideal for families, couples, and photography enthusiasts, offering a magical winter experience that blends artistry, community participation, and the beauty of nighttime illumination.
