Japan’s sunny days can make regular camera screens difficult to see. The 1000 nits of brightness on the SHINOBI display ensures that you can clearly and accurately monitor your video feed, check focus, and review exposure settings even when standing in direct sunlight, reducing shooting errors outdoors.
No, the ATOMOS SHINOBI is a monitor-only device. The SD card slot is used exclusively for loading 3D LUT files and for updating the device’s operating system (AtomOS). It does not have any internal or external video recording functionality.
No, the SHINOBI only supports video input up to 4K at 30p (29 point 97p) or Full HD at 60p (59 point 94p). If your camera is set to output 4K 60p via HDMI, the monitor will not display an image. You must lower your camera’s HDMI output setting to 4K 30p or below.
The rental includes one battery. For continuous monitoring, a 2600mAh battery provides approximately 1 point 5 hours of run time, while a larger 7800mAh battery would last around 6 hours. We recommend using the included AC adapter when power is available or managing your shooting with the included battery and charger.
LUTs (Look Up Tables) are color profiles that you can load onto the SHINOBI. If you are shooting in a flat color profile (log), which is necessary for maximizing dynamic range, the LUT allows you to view the footage on the monitor with a simulated “final look” (e.g., a high-contrast or stylized color grade), helping you judge exposure and composition more accurately.
