Overview

KERA CROSS returns with its 7th installment, “Sharp-san and Flat-san,” a dark comedy that delves into the obsession with laughter and the “madness” that lies just beneath the surface. Written by the legendary Keralino Sandorovich and directed by Maggie, the play follows a group of people who are described as being a semitone out of sync with society’s values. This production weaves a complex narrative of social misalignment and psychological depth, brought to life by a stellar ensemble cast including Tokio Emoto, Rin Takanashi, Yumi Adachi, and Makita Sports.

This installment is part of the ambitious KERA CROSS project, which sees diverse directors reinterpreting the works of Keralino Sandorovich. With its blend of sharp wit and unsettling observations on human nature, the play promises to be a standout theatrical event of the 2026 season, touring major cultural hubs across Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. The story depicts the thin line between professional dedication and total loss of self, making it a must-watch for fans of thought-provoking contemporary Japanese theater.
