The Story of the Solo Leveling Exhibition

Originating as a South Korean web novel by Chugong before adapting into a wildly popular digital webtoon and subsequent anime series, Solo Leveling Exhibition has surpassed 14.3 billion views globally. The story follows Sung Jin-Woo, initially ridiculed as the “Weakest Hunter of All Mankind,” an E-rank combatant who struggles through low-level dungeons to pay his mother’s medical bills. Everything shifts during a fateful raid inside a double dungeon, where his party encounters the horrific judgment of the Kaltenon Temple. Granted a unique ability known only to him—the power to see a system interface that allows him to “level up” without limit—Jin-Woo begins a rapid ascension through the ranks of hunters, eventually commanding a vast army of shadow soldiers as the Shadow Monarch.

Solo Leveling Exhibition

The 2026 Tokyo Solo Leveling Exhibition is a real-life experience that takes you through this journey. It is built on a space that is more than 400 tsubo (about 1,320 square meters). The place shows parts of the story with special buildings and strong lighting that creates a powerful feeling. People walk through the exhibition step by step starting with stone statues from the Double Dungeon and a scary temple called Kaltenon Temple. Later the exhibition shows the event on Jeju Island where top hunters fight dangerous strong ant monsters.

Along the way there are big statues of main characters and shadow summons that look very real. High-tech video, lights on the floor and sounds from directions make it feel like magic is happening. Everyone who comes gets a sticker that measures their level as they go through the special areas. In addition to the path there is a store with special items only, for the exhibition and a cafe that anyone can visit no matter if they have a ticket or not.

Why Experience it Live in Tokyo

For international fans visiting Japan, anime and webtoon exhibitions offer an immersion into pop culture that screen media simply cannot replicate. Stepping into a physically realized Kaltenon Temple or standing face-to-face with life-sized renditions of Sung Jin-Woo’s shadow soldiers transforms a digital reading experience into a tactile memory.

Tokyo serves as the premier hub for high-production pop-culture installations, blending state-of-the-art visual effects with physical stage design.
