Jules Massenets Izumi Hall Opera Werther is an emotional work. It is based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethes book The Sorrows of Young Werther which’s kind of about his own life. The opera is about a poet named Werther who falls deeply in love with a woman named Charlotte. She is already promised to marry another man and eventually does. The opera looks at what happens when you love someone who does not love you back and how that can make you very sad.
