Something big happened to Ayako Uehara in 2002 at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Ayako Uehara was 21 years old when she won First Prize for playing the piano. This was a deal and people all around the world heard about it. Ayako Uehara was the person, from Japan to win this prize and she was also the first woman to ever win the gold medal for playing the piano at the Tchaikovsky Competition. This was an achievement and Ayako Uehara became famous in Europe, the Americas and Asia because of it.
