This guided walking tour through Arashiyama is curated to offer history, breathtaking views, and local flavors. Led by your guide Yusuke, a Kyoto native with experience guiding over 3,000 guests, you’ll uncover the quieter, more authentic side of this historic area.

You’ll visit lesser-known but deeply significant locations, escaping the tourist crowds while gaining deep insight into Kyoto’s cultural heritage.

If you choose “The Tale of Genji Tour” option, you’ll receive additional commentary about this classic Japanese literary work and how the locations relate to the story. Both tour options visit the same spots.

Tour Sites

Nonomiya Shrine

  • See one of Japan’s only black torii gates
  • Stroll through a lush moss garden
  • Learn how to pray and the key differences between shrines and temples

Bamboo Forest

  • Walk through Kyoto’s famous bamboo grove
