Full Description

Kyoto is one of Japan’s most bike-friendly cities, with calm streets and scenic cycling routes perfect for sightseeing. On this half-day adventure, you’ll hop on a Mamachari (a classic Japanese city bike) and set off to explore a mix of cultural highlights, spiritual landmarks, and natural beauty.

Your tour begins in the historic Gion district, known for its traditional architecture and geisha culture. From there, cycle to the tranquil Nanzenji Temple, a sprawling Zen complex surrounded by nature.

Next, follow the peaceful Philosopher’s Path, a canal-side walkway lined with trees and seasonal blooms. Along this scenic route, stop at Ginkakuji, the Silver Pavilion, a stunning Zen temple with meticulously landscaped gardens.

Continue your ride through leafy paths to Shimogamo Shrine, one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Kyoto, set within a sacred forest. The final destination is the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the historic seat of Japan’s imperial family, where you can relax and admire the expansive palace grounds.

Throughout the ride, your knowledgeable guide will share stories and insights into the city’s deep history, religious traditions, and local life.

Whether you’re cycling in cherry blossom season or during autumn’s fiery foliage, this bike tour offers a unique and immersive way to see Kyoto.

Reviews

“Our bike tour of Kyoto was excellent and it was the perfect way to explore Kyoto’s beautiful sights. Our children (13 and 11) also loved it. Definitely beat walking around and we covered so much ground doing it this way. Our tour guide Kats was great and provided so much valuable information and insight to Kyoto. Would highly recommend doing this tour.”
