Your expert guide, Mao, has over 10 years of experience in knife sharpening and will guide you step-by-step—even if you’re a complete beginner. Although some parts involve hot iron and heavy hammering, safety is prioritized throughout the session.
The forging process—the highlight of the experience—involves heating and hammering steel into shape. You’ll be taught the correct technique to ensure both safety and accuracy. Throughout the workshop, you’re welcome to take photos or videos to remember your experience.
The resulting knife will be approximately 13–15 cm in blade length. Since it’s handmade, actual size may slightly vary. The knife is fully functional and crafted using traditional iron-handle methods. Please note that wooden handles are not included.
This condensed experience is designed to fit within 2.5 hours. Creating a full-sized kitchen knife usually takes over 5 hours and costs more than $400. Studio NIN provides a more accessible and affordable option while still preserving the authenticity of the craft.
