Full Description
This experience includes:
- Sightseeing of the main shrine and thousands of red torii gates, with explanations about their history and cultural significance.
- Easy walking through a peaceful bamboo and cedar forest path, visiting authentic sacred spots such as worship stones, a waterfall, and a local factory.
- Hiking up a forest trail to the summit shrine (20 minutes). The summit stands at 233 meters, and your guide will show you around the shrine.
- Photo opportunities at scenic, less crowded spots on the descent.
- A tea break with a snack and breathtaking panoramic views of Kyoto city.
- Lunch at one of the best soba restaurants. Vegan options are available—please inform in advance.
Other things to note:
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring a hands-free backpack suitable for hiking. While the paths are well-organized, there will be stairs and elevation changes. Tour timing may vary depending on walking pace.

Watching a master carve torii columns was an added bonus. Guides Ko and Go were knowledgeable and friendly. It is a hike, and they let you go at your own pace. The included offerings, fortunes, ice cream, and lunch were delightful. They even accommodated vegetarian diets.
