The Story: Central LeagueGiants vs BayStars

For years the Yomiuri Giants and the Yokohama DeNA BayStars (once called the Yokohama Taiyo Whales and Yokohama BayStars) have had great games in the Central League. The next alumni game, called OB or “Old Boys ” is a moment. It celebrates twenty years of help from Honda Cars Shizuoka. It also brings players back to Shizutetsu Stadium Kusanagi, a place that is very special in Japanese baseball history.

Giants vs BayStars

The Yomiuri Giants OB team is led by the exciting Kiyoshi Nakahata. This team has a strong group of players who were great pitchers and hitters. Famous starters like Suguru Egawa, Hiroki Makihara (who once threw a game for the Giants) Masaki Saito, Kimiyasu Kudo and Kazuhisa Kawaguchi are part of the strong pitching staff. On the side great players and managers such as Tatsunori Hara, Kazunori Shinozuka, Michihiro Ogasawara, Tokuhiro Komada, Alex Ramirez and Yoshinobu Takahashi come back to wear the famous orange and black uniforms.

Opposing them is a strong Yokohama DeNA BayStars OB team managed by Akio Saito. The BayStars alumni have players from all times in the teams history. They have pitchers like Masatsugu Hiramatsu, Daisuke Miura (known as “Bancho”) Hideyuki Awano and Shun Yamaguchi. Their offensive players include names, like Motonobu Tanishige, Norihiro Nakamura, Seiichi Uchikawa, Yutaka Takagi and Hitoshi Tamura.

This game will be seven innings long. It mixes the energy of Central League games with a special friendly event. Fans will get a chance to see past MVPs, Japan Series winners and national heroes playing together again.

Why Experience It Live: Giants vs BayStars

Attending an NPB alumni showdown offers an entirely distinct cultural experience compared to standard regular-season games. Ballpark atmosphere at Kusanagi Stadium during an exhibition of this caliber blends nostalgia, top-tier craftsmanship, and authentic Japanese fan culture.

Supporters on both sides bring organized cheering traditions to life. The first 4,000 eligible ticket holders entering the stadium will receive a special souvenir “support muffler towel”—2,000 orange towels dedicated to the Giants first-base side and 2,000 blue towels for the BayStars third-base side. Watching classic legends step up to bat while thousands of fans raise their regional cheering towels provides a vibrant window into Japan’s deep love for baseball.

Frequently Asked Questions: Giants vs BayStars

What happens if the baseball match is cancelled due to rain?

Because Shizutetsu Stadium Kusanagi is an open-air venue, outdoor matches are subject to weather conditions. If the organizers officially cancel the event due to rain or severe weather, Jasumo will assist you in accordance with the official cancellation policy of the event organizers.

How do I receive my cheering muffler towel at the stadium?

Cheering towels are provided by the event organizers to the first 4,000 eligible infield ticket holders upon entering through the main stadium gates on the day of the match. They are distributing on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do young children require a separate ticket for this event?

Children under 3 years of age may enter free of charge provided they sit on a parent or guardian’s lap. However, if a child under 3 requires their own individual seat, a valid ticket for that section must purchase.

Can overseas visitors buy tickets directly through Japanese ticketing platforms?

Most Japanese ticketing outlets require a Japanese telephone number capable of receiving SMS verification, a Japanese credit card, and a Japanese billing address. Jasumo bypasses these technical barriers by managing the entire procurement, verification, and delivery process for international guests.

Will this alumni match sell out quickly?

Matches featuring iconic Japanese baseball figures—such as Tatsunori Hara, Suguru Egawa, and Daisuke Miura—attract significant regional and national interest. Reserved infield seating categories typically sell out well ahead of game day.

How are service fees structured for ticket orders?

An order is making up of the original ticket price, the cost of the platforms used to purchase the ticket, and a service fee. Because every event, seating tier, and order request is unique, please contact us directly for full details and a tailored price for your specific booking.
