Full Description

Departing at 8:00 AM from Tully’s Coffee – Kyoto Avanti, this immersive day tour takes you through the historic highlights of Nara and Uji in comfort and style. First, admire the grand architecture of Todaiji Temple, one of Japan’s most famous temples housing the Great Buddha — and recognized as one of the world’s largest wooden structures.

Next, stroll through Nara Park, where over 1,000 wild deer roam freely. You can feed them rice crackers, and they’ll even bow in thanks. Afterward, admire the lantern-lined paths of the Kasuga Taisha Shrine, renowned for its 3,000 mystical stone and bronze lanterns.

From Nara, travel to Uji, the birthplace of matcha. After a relaxing lunch (if selected), explore Byodoin Temple, featured on Japan’s 10-yen coin and famed for its Phoenix Hall. Then, immerse yourself in Japanese tea culture with a matcha-making workshop. Learn the traditional method of preparing powdered green tea and enjoy the cup you make yourself.

Before returning to Kyoto, enjoy free time to shop for souvenirs or sample local sweets in Uji’s charming streets.

This tour includes commentary from your local guide, plus multilingual audio in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Ukrainian. Your coach is sanitized and air-conditioned for a safe, comfortable ride.
