The Hozugawa River route dates back over 400 years and was originally used for transporting timber and goods to Osaka. Spearheaded by merchant Suminokura Ryōi in the 1600s, this waterway once bustled with trade and labor. Today, you can still glimpse remnants of the paths once used to haul boats upstream by rope.
