Full Description

Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned sake fan, this experience will elevate your appreciation of Japan’s most iconic drink.

Begin your 3-hour journey in Kyoto’s Fushimi Ward, a region celebrated for its pure spring water and centuries-old brewing tradition. Your expert guide will take you on a private tour of either the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum or the Higashiyama (Kizakura) Sake Brewery, where you’ll gain rare insight into traditional brewing methods that have been preserved for generations.

After exploring the brewery and sampling its fresh offerings, you’ll move into a dedicated tasting room for the second part of your experience. Here, a curated flight of 10+ sakes awaits—each chosen to highlight a different brewing style, rice variety, or flavor profile.

Your guide will help you learn to distinguish between dry, fruity, umami-rich, or floral notes, and teach you how to decode sake labels like a pro.

To complete the journey, you’ll enjoy a selection of otsumami—traditional Japanese bar snacks—carefully paired with each sake style. Discover how different dishes enhance or contrast the flavor of each sake, giving you a practical and delicious understanding of sake pairing.

This tour is highly recommended at the start of your Japan trip, so you can apply your new knowledge as you explore other regions.
