Full Description

Your Taiko journey begins at JR Takatsuki Station, ideally located between Osaka and Kyoto. From there, a staff member will transport you to the studio, where your experience starts with a warm welcome and a cultural introduction to the art of Taiko drumming.

Begin by learning about the history and cultural significance of Taiko, an integral part of Japanese festivals, rituals, and celebrations. Then, personalize your hachimaki (headband) by writing your own wish or kanji character — a symbolic start to your Taiko journey.

Next, enjoy a captivating live performance by professional Taiko players, showcasing the strength, precision, and emotion behind this traditional art. Following the performance, it’s your turn to take the stage. A friendly, English-speaking instructor will guide you through basic techniques, including stance, grip, and rhythm patterns.

Once you’ve mastered the fundamentals, join the group in performing a simple yet powerful Taiko piece. Dressed in traditional Japanese happi and your custom headband, you’ll experience the joy of synchronized drumming as part of a team.

The experience concludes with a group photo session in costume — a perfect way to remember your time as a Taiko drummer in Japan.

Whether you’re a music enthusiast or simply looking for a unique cultural experience, this workshop offers an unforgettable way to connect with Japanese tradition through rhythm and movement.
