Starting from Kyoto Station, travel with your guide to a dedicated Taiko studio where you’ll experience a performance by professional drummers, learn the cultural history of Taiko, and try the drums yourself. No musical experience required—just bring your energy and curiosity.
Begin your journey at Kyoto Station, where your English-speaking guide will meet you. After a quick 10-minute train ride and a short car transfer, you’ll arrive at a private Taiko studio nestled in a quiet part of northern Osaka.
Start with a brief cultural introduction to Taiko—learn about its origins, how it has been used in religious rituals, festivals, and Japanese life for centuries. Then, write your personal wish on a Hachimaki (traditional headband) in Japanese calligraphy—a unique way to connect with the tradition.
Next, witness a powerful live Taiko performance by a professional player. The deep, resonant rhythms will stir your spirit and set the tone for your hands-on session. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, you’ll learn basic movements and rhythms, culminating in a group performance of a simple Taiko piece.
The experience concludes with a commemorative group photo while dressed in traditional Happi coats and headbands—a fun and authentic way to mark your achievement.
Whether you’re musically inclined or just looking for a cultural adventure, this workshop offers an exciting, physical, and truly Japanese experience.
