Full Description

Begin your 3-hour tour in the charming neighborhood of Ningyocho, a historic district known for its preservation of traditional Japanese culture and flavors. The adventure starts with the scent of cinnamon wafting from a long-standing confectionery where you’ll sample Ningyoyaki—small sponge cakes filled with red bean paste, shaped like dolls.

Continue your journey through narrow lanes dotted with artisan shops. Visit a traditional gift shop offering calligraphy sets, lacquerware, and other handmade souvenirs. Then, enjoy a taste of senbei — savory rice crackers loved across Japan — perfect for gluten- and dairy-free guests.

Next, indulge in a Wagyu sukiyaki croquette from the famed Imahan, a local favorite that combines the richness of premium beef with a crispy, satisfying bite. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to one of the eight shrines of Ningyocho, where locals worship deities of wisdom, prosperity, longevity, and learning.

From there, walk toward Nihonbashi, a financial hub that holds centuries-old secrets. Among the skyscrapers and trading firms, you’ll find traditional craftspeople operating inside alleyways and department stores. Highlights may include a visit to a Washi paper shop established in 1653 and stops at unique specialty stores, such as:

  • A handcrafted toothpick shop
  • A Japanese kitchen knife atelier
  • A shop specializing in Dashi (soup stock)
  • A gold leaf artisan vendor
  • A classic Japanese brush and calligraphy store

This tour blends cultural discovery with food tasting in an intimate and interactive format — perfect for those looking to connect with Tokyo’s rich heritage.
