This private tasting tour is a must for whisky lovers. Begin your experience by meeting your expert guide near Sanjo Ohashi, one of Kyoto’s key entertainment areas. You’ll get a brief introduction to Kyoto’s bar scene and whisky history before heading to a carefully selected Japanese whisky bar.
Start with a Suntory Kaku highball, Japan’s most popular whisky cocktail. Learn how to prepare it yourself, just like locals do.
Next, dive into a tasting flight of rare and premium Japanese whiskies, often difficult to find even in Japan. The usual lineup includes:
- Yamazaki 12 Years
- Taketsuru 12 Years
- Hibiki Blender’s Choice
- Suntory Royal 12 Years
Each whisky will be tasted straight first. Then, with a few drops of water, you’ll discover how the aroma and flavor open up — becoming smoother, mellower, and more nuanced. Your guide will walk you through each step, helping you understand mouthfeel, balance, and finish.
