Join a 2.5-hour immersive culinary experience where you’ll explore local Japanese shops and learn to prepare iconic dishes like Katsu Curry or Bento boxes—all in a warm, friendly setting led by locals.
Join Osaka Cooking Base for a dynamic cooking and culture experience that blends market exploration with hands-on Japanese home cooking. Perfect for families, solo travelers, or food enthusiasts, this class gives you the rare chance to see a side of Osaka that’s both delicious and deeply local.
The journey begins in front of the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, where your host will greet you and guide you through a local neighborhood tour. You’ll stop by small, authentic shops to discover Japanese staples such as ume (pickled plum) and goma (sesame), and learn how these ingredients play a role in daily cooking. Your guide will provide English explanations and cultural context throughout.
Then, head to the cozy cooking studio where you’ll prepare either Katsu Curry, a comforting favorite made with crispy pork cutlet and rich Japanese curry, or a beautifully arranged Bento box, filled with a variety of side dishes. You’ll learn proper techniques, ingredient prep, and cultural etiquette—step by step.
The class is interactive and engaging, with time for conversation about Japanese life and cooking culture. No prior cooking experience is needed, and every guest is encouraged to participate fully.
By the end of the session, you’ll not only enjoy your handmade dish but leave with the confidence to recreate these flavors at home. It’s more than a class—it’s an unforgettable taste of Japanese hospitality and culture.
