Start your journey along the serene Kamo River, cycling past scenic views toward Kyoto’s famous Gion district. Your first major stop is Kennin-ji Temple, a stunning Zen temple where your guide will introduce you to the history of Zen Buddhism and its influence on Japanese culture. The tranquil rock gardens (karesansui) and temple grounds provide the perfect setting to experience the soul of Kyoto.
From there, continue pedaling through charming streets to Nanzen-ji Temple, another UNESCO site rich in Zen tradition. Learn how Kyoto’s past as Japan’s capital shaped its deep cultural identity.
