Step into the warm hospitality of a Japanese home and immerse yourself in the secrets of authentic Japanese cooking. Learn to prepare multiple traditional dishes using core ingredients like dashi, then enjoy a guided visit to a local supermarket to continue your culinary adventure.
Begin your experience in a beautifully preserved Japanese home near Fushimi Inari, surrounded by a peaceful garden. After a warm welcome and short orientation, your instructor will introduce you to dashi, the essential stock used in many Japanese dishes.
Then, roll up your sleeves and learn how to prepare five seasonal dishes, guided step-by-step by a licensed interpreter and experienced local instructor. Watch demonstrations, then try your hand at replicating the techniques.
Once the cooking is complete, gather with fellow participants around a traditional dining table and enjoy the fruits of your labor in the elegant tea room overlooking the garden—an experience that feels both refined and intimate.
After lunch, you’ll head out for a short supermarket tour, where your guide will help you identify and purchase authentic ingredients used in your cooking session. It’s the perfect way to bring a taste of Japan back home.
All instructions are in English, and you’ll receive the recipes by email so you can confidently recreate the dishes later.

“A highlight of my trip to Kyoto.”
Miho’s class was invaluable. I left with full confidence to cook authentic Japanese meals. The garden view while enjoying lunch was the perfect touch.
“Wonderful for families.”
The class was incredibly accommodating for our three young children. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was delicious, and the instructors were patient and kind.
“Engaging and educational.”
We cooked seven dishes and had fun the whole time. The supermarket tour was a great way to reinforce what we learned. Highly recommended!
