Full Description

Step into a beautifully preserved machiya (traditional wooden townhouse) located in Kyoto’s historic Higashiyama district, just steps from Kiyomizu Temple. Here, your host HANA — a Kyoto native with a passion for cooking and storytelling — will guide you through an immersive culinary journey.

You’ll begin by preparing two signature dishes: rolled sushi and takoyaki, a favorite Japanese street food. This hands-on class is suitable for all levels and includes everything from ingredient prep to plating and presentation.

As you cook, HANA will share insights about daily Japanese life, food customs, and Kyoto’s culinary heritage. After enjoying your delicious homemade meal, you’ll be treated to a tasting of Kyoto sake (or beer), followed by locally made matcha ice cream to round out the experience.

Whether you’re a food lover or just looking for a memorable activity in Kyoto, this cooking class offers a rich blend of flavor, fun, and cultural discovery.
