Full Description

Begin your food journey in Shinsekai, a nostalgic neighborhood built in the early 20th century, once envisioned as the “New World” of Osaka. With its retro atmosphere and iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, the area remains a vibrant symbol of Showa-era Osaka. Visit a Shinto shrine, where your guide will explain its cultural relevance, especially during New Year visits.

Wander through the streets of Shinsekai, sampling one of Osaka’s most iconic comfort foods—kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). Served crispy and hot, these skewers offer a glimpse into local pub-style dining, a favorite for both locals and visitors.

From there, take a short subway ride to Dotonbori, the heart of Osaka’s nightlife and culinary culture. Step into a narrow food alley, often compared to a living museum, with vintage decor recreating Osaka as it looked 80 years ago. Just steps away lies a quiet hidden temple, offering a moment of peaceful reflection before the gastronomic excitement continues.

End your evening in Dotonbori, where you’ll indulge in okonomiyaki (savory pancake cooked at your table) and takoyaki (grilled octopus balls)—Osaka’s quintessential street foods. Dotonbori, once the center of rice trade during the Edo period, earned its nickname as “The Nation’s Kitchen”, and you’ll soon understand why.

With rich storytelling, local flavors, and a relaxed pace, this tour is more than just a food crawl—it’s a cultural deep dive that brings Osaka to life bite by bite.
