The Mishima Skywalk Hydrangea Festival is a breathtaking annual event held from mid-June to mid-July at the Mishima Skywalk, located in Shizuoka Prefecture. Known for being Japan’s longest suspension footbridge, the Skywalk is an ideal location to showcase the vibrant beauty of hydrangeas. During the festival, over 13,000 hydrangeas bloom across a stunning 205 varieties, including unique cultivars such as ‘Skywalk’, ‘Haou’, and ‘Natsuzora.’
The event offers visitors a chance to enjoy a scenic 2-kilometer walk across the suspension bridge, with panoramic views of Suruga Bay and, on clear days, the majestic Mount Fuji. The hydrangeas line the walking paths, creating an enchanting atmosphere, especially during the evenings when the flowers are illuminated.
