Full Description
Begin your day by meeting your guide at 7-Eleven Hiroshima Motoyasubashi East Store, just outside the Peace Memorial Park. The tour starts with a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a sacred space that honors the victims of the atomic bombing and symbolizes a worldwide hope for peace.
See the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the few structures left standing near the hypocenter of the explosion and a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the park and pass the Cenotaph for A-bomb Victims and the Flame of Peace, which will burn until all nuclear weapons are abolished.
Step inside the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum to gain a deep understanding of the city’s tragic past and powerful recovery. Exhibits include personal stories, photographs, and artifacts that provide emotional insight into the events of August 6, 1945.
From there, take a ferry ride across the Seto Inland Sea to the spiritual and scenic Miyajima Island. Visit the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, known for its torii gate that appears to float on water during high tide. Marvel at the Senjokaku Pavilion, also known as the “Pavilion of 1,000 Tatami Mats,” a serene structure with sweeping views.
Continue exploring the island’s tranquil forests, hills, and charming streets filled with local crafts, snack stalls, and tea houses. Sample Momiji Manju, a maple-leaf-shaped cake, and discover hidden shops offering unique souvenirs.
