Why Monty Python’s SPAMALOT matters in Japan
Monty Python SPAMALOT has a place in Japanese theatre. One director, Yuichi Fukuda has guided Monty Python SPAMALOT from its Japanese opening in 2012. Yuichi Fukuda turned the Broadway into a Japanese show. That musical was written by Eric Idle of Monty Python. Eric Idle wrote it as a joke about the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Yuichi Fukuda liked Takanori Iwata’s sense of humour and his habit of adding things that are not in the script. Koki Yamashita, who became well known in the 2022 drama Kimi no Hana ni Naru is playing Sir Robin. Singer‑songwriter Daisuke Fujiwara is playing Sir Galahad. Both Koki Yamashita and Daisuke Fujiwara are appearing in a musical for the time.
