Full Description

This small-group walking tour gives you an in-depth look at Nagoya’s cultural treasures and local life. The day begins at the Nagoya Station Tourist Information Center, where you’ll meet your guide and board the subway to the city’s most iconic landmark—Nagoya Castle. Built in the 17th century, the castle features towering stone walls, wide moats, and the magnificent Hommaru Palace, reconstructed with detailed woodwork and traditional techniques.

Next, you’ll head to Sakae, Nagoya’s modern downtown. Visit Oasis 21, a unique glass structure called the “Spaceship Aqua,” which offers great views of the Nagoya TV Tower. Enjoy lunch and try local favorites like miso katsu, hitsumabushi (eel rice), or tebasaki (Nagoya-style chicken wings).

After lunch, ride the subway to Osu, one of Nagoya’s most colorful neighborhoods. Walk through covered shopping arcades lined with vintage shops, anime stores, pachinko parlors, and tea sellers. The tour ends at Osu Kannon Temple, a historic Buddhist temple beloved by locals for its vibrant festivals and spiritual atmosphere.

Throughout the tour, your English-speaking guide will share insights into Nagoya’s samurai roots, post-war redevelopment, and current-day culture, making this an ideal introduction for first-time visitors.
