We warmly invite everyone to come, discover, and connect with the deep-rooted traditions, creative expressions, and heartfelt hospitality that define our beloved community. This year’s theme, “Invitation,” is more than a word—it’s a call to rediscover the spirit of our town and uncover the lesser-known treasures that make it so special. Whether you’re a local, a returning visitor, or joining us for the first time, the Nigohachi Festival is your gateway to hidden stories, experiences, and flavors.
What began nearly five decades ago in Yokaichi has grown into a city-wide celebration throughout Higashiomi. While the name and setting have evolved, the heart of the festival remains the same—created for and by the people, and centered on the bonds we share.
Visitors will embark on a journey across the festival grounds to discover the diverse charm of Higashiomi, including:
Every element of the festival offers a chance to connect more deeply with the town’s identity and create new, lasting memories.
In 2026, the festival will be held at Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, a place rich in cultural significance. This historic setting offers a new dimension to the festival while honoring the traditions of Higashiomi. It’s a perfect blend of heritage and hospitality.
The 48th Nigohachi Festival in 2024 saw over 40,000 attendees—a remarkable achievement made possible through the dedication of our volunteers, community members, supporters, and guests. The Higashiomi Junior Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt thanks and is committed to making the 2026 event even more meaningful and memorable.
