Start your journey at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, the guardian shrine of the Kamishichiken district. You’ll pay your respects and explore the grounds, rich in seasonal beauty and cultural heritage, including national treasures and historic architecture.
Next, enter the world of traditional textile art with a Nishijin weaving experience. Under the guidance of a skilled artisan, learn the tsuzure-ori technique—one of the oldest and most intricate forms of woven textile art in Japan. Choose from a selection of items to create your own one-of-a-kind souvenir in an authentic workshop setting.
Finally, take a guided stroll through the Kamishichiken district, which still retains the elegance of Kyoto’s past. Learn about the lives of geiko and maiko and explore the hidden corners of this historic 400-meter street lined with traditional machiya houses and latticework.
