Experience the Heartbeat of Okinawan Summer

What is the All-Island Eisa Festival?

The Okinawa All Island Eisa Festival is one of the most iconic cultural events in Okinawa and a true symbol of the island’s summer spirit. Held annually on the first weekend after Obon, the festival celebrates Eisa, a traditional Okinawan dance accompanied by rhythmic taiko drums, sanshin music, and powerful chanting.

Originally launched in 1956 as the All Island Eisa Competition to mark the founding of Koza City, it has since evolved into a nationwide celebration of Okinawan identity and youth spirit.

What to Expect

  • Authentic Eisa Performances: Groups from across Okinawa’s main island and beyond—including sister cities and cultural organizations—bring their unique Eisa styles to the stage.
  • Electrifying Music: Feel the pulse of the festival with the powerful sound of taiko drums, soulful sanshin melodies, and traditional Okinawan folk songs.
  • Community Celebration: Youth associations and local performers gather in a spirited show of energy, culture, and unity.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning fan, the All-Island Eisa Festival offers an unforgettable experience—colorful costumes, dramatic choreography, and Okinawa’s warm hospitality all in one place.
