The Okinawa International Carnival is a spectacular annual event that brings together the rich cultural diversity of Okinawa City, where more than 30 nationalities live in harmony. Held in late November, this year’s festival also marks the 50th anniversary of Okinawa City’s municipalization, making it even more exciting and vibrant.
Festival Highlights:
- Multinational Parade & Motorbike Run:
A colorful and energetic parade showcasing the diversity of Okinawa City kicks off the day, featuring international participants, marching bands, and a thrilling motorbike parade. - International Great Tug of War:
Join or cheer on over 2,000 participants as they test their strength in this massive and friendly tug-of-war competition, one of the carnival’s most iconic events. - Samba Carnival & Cultural Performances:
Enjoy the rhythms and colors of the Okinawa Samba Carnival, along with multicultural dance shows, martial arts demonstrations, and traditional performances from around the world. - Music & Entertainment:
From the USMC III MEF Brass Band performance to live bands and DJs, the stage will be alive throughout the day with dynamic entertainment suited for all ages. - Food & Souvenirs:
Stroll along Gate Street, which will be lined with food stalls serving international cuisine, regional delicacies, and local treats. A variety of souvenir and craft booths will also be available.

- 13:00 – Opening Ceremony & Parade Awards Ceremony
Featuring the Okinawa City Junior Choir performing the official city song. - 13:30 – Opening Show
Performed by the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force Brass Band (USMC III MEF). - 14:30 – Okinawa Samba Carnival
