Discover the adrenaline of Japanese boat racing, a sport rooted in tradition and now governed and operated by the Japanese government. Often described as the aquatic counterpart to Japan’s Olympic cycling sport “Keirin,” these Lake Biwa races feature powerful high-tech speedboats and passionate local fans.

You’ll depart from Kyoto Station and travel to Lake Biwa in nearby Shiga Prefecture. Kenji, your guide with 20+ years of experience, will introduce you to the world of boat racing—offering clear instructions on how to watch, follow, and (optionally) place bets.

Along the way, you’ll make a quick stop at a local supermarket to choose your bento lunch, drinks, or even a highball for a relaxed picnic while enjoying the excitement of the races.
