Full Description
In Japan, hyper-realistic food replicas, or “sampuru,” are displayed outside restaurants to tempt hungry passersby. Now, you can learn to make your own in a one-of-a-kind experience found only in Kyoto!
This hands-on class teaches you how to craft tempura replicas using melted wax and expert shaping techniques. You’ll pour wax into hot water, form shrimp and pumpkin slices, then dip them in a golden, textured “batter” to complete the illusion. Optionally, you can also make a replica lettuce leaf—crisp, green, and shockingly realistic.
At the end of the session, your creations will be beautifully packaged to look like supermarket-ready items—making for the perfect quirky souvenir or conversation piece.
⚠️ Note: These replicas are not edible, though they may look good enough to eat!
