Ryōan-ji Temple is considered the pinnacle of Zen Buddhist garden design. Located in northwest Kyoto, this temple is internationally recognized for its mysterious and minimalist karesansui (dry landscape) rock garden, believed to promote meditation and self-reflection.
Your journey begins at the Sanmon main gate, where you’ll meet your local guide holding a yellow DeepExperience sign. Over 80 minutes, you’ll gain deeper insight into the spiritual symbolism and visual techniques of the temple’s rock garden — famously composed of 15 stones carefully arranged on raked white gravel.
