Join a guided tour of the Nada area in Kobe — home to Japan’s highest concentration of traditional sake breweries. With its ideal climate, mineral-rich water from Mount Rokko, and centuries of history, Nada is considered the birthplace of premium Japanese sake.

Meet your guide at Sumiyoshi Station or directly at the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum to begin your sake discovery journey.

Your first stop is the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, where you’ll explore traditional sake brewing equipment and learn about historical methods that are still respected today. Enjoy a tasting of freshly brewed sake, and perhaps even sake ice cream.

Continue to the Kikumasamune Sake Brewery, where you’ll delve deeper into the artistry behind sake making and sample unique brews not available outside the region.

The final visit is to Hamafukutsuru Brewery, a smaller and more intimate facility where you may witness live sake production and see skilled artisans crafting wooden barrels by hand—a rare and fascinating experience.
