Step into the world of samurai cinema with this immersive swordplay experience at Myokaku-ji Temple — the only place in Japan offering such a program. Set in a location rich with history, this unique adventure allows you to learn real sword techniques, wear traditional attire, and film your own samurai action scene.
Special Dates
On the following days, the experience includes special admission to the temple’s main hall and will last 90 minutes instead of the usual 70 minutes:
- July 11 (9:50), July 14 (9:50, 12:00)
- July 16 (9:50), July 24 (12:00)
- August 5 (9:50), August 6 (9:50)
Chambara Experience
Receive hands-on training in basic samurai sword techniques, including makkogiri and kesagiri. These moves form the basis of Japanese swordplay and stage combat.
Kimono Dressing Experience
Dress in a traditional kimono and feel the part as you prepare for your performance.
Chambara Performance Viewing
Watch your instructors — professional actors from Japanese period films — perform a live samurai sword battle, showcasing their deep mastery of bushido.
Samurai Swordplay and Filming Session
