The Sanriku Fireworks Festival 2025 is one of the most anticipated fireworks events in Japan, featuring over 15,000 fireworks launched into the sky in a dazzling spectacle. The festival is held twice a year, in both spring and autumn, and the spring edition is an extraordinary one-night-only event. This year, the festival will be held on May 4, 2025, offering an unforgettable experience in Iwate Prefecture.

What Happens?

The Sanriku Fireworks Festival features an exciting head-to-head fireworks competition between two teams. It is a music-synchronized fireworks display known as “Music Starmines”, which will include newly released songs and cutting-edge music trends.
The festival will include traditional performances and food stalls, creating a lively atmosphere from midday to 9:00 PM.
The fireworks display will light up the night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with an incredible array of fireworks, including No. 10 shells—some of the largest and most beautiful in the country.

Parking and Travel

Parking Tickets: If you’re driving, you can purchase a Viewing ticket with parking. Parking spaces are limited and available for a fee. Note: Parking spaces are not sold separately, so you must purchase a viewing ticket with parking.
Public Transportation:
The Takata Matsubara Sports Park is easily accessible from Kiseki No Ippommatsu Station on the Ofunato Line, which is under a 10-minute walk away. Buses are also available from Sendai Station.
