Full Description

Begin your journey into Japanese tradition at JR Teradacho Station, where you’ll meet your hosts for a peaceful and enriching experience combining two cherished Japanese art forms: the tea ceremony and pottery.

First, step into the serene world of Chado (the Way of Tea). With guidance from a tea ceremony master, you’ll learn the basic principles behind this ancient practice, including its emphasis on harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. Prepare and enjoy matcha (powdered green tea), paired with carefully selected traditional Japanese sweets that complement its rich flavor. This part of the workshop offers a moment of mindfulness and reflection in a calming setting.

Following the tea ceremony, move into the creative portion of the workshop led by Anna, a bilingual ceramist who studied pottery in both Osaka and Barcelona. With her instruction, you’ll craft your own matcha tea bowl using traditional Japanese ceramic techniques. Shape, texture, and decorate the bowl to reflect your personal style, gaining a deeper appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship.

As a special gift, you’ll also receive a small handmade dish, perfect for serving sweets in your own tea gatherings back home.

This unique experience is set in Ikuno Ward, a culturally rich neighborhood in Osaka, offering a blend of tradition and everyday local life. After the workshop, feel free to explore the area and enjoy its hidden gems.

Whether you’re a cultural enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable activity in Osaka, this tea and pottery experience offers both insight and inspiration.
