Held in honor of Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, this historic festival at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine blends over 1,000 years of tradition with dazzling spectacles and lively summer energy.

Festival Highlights:

Land Procession (陸渡御): On July 25, watch as thousands of participants dressed in traditional attire parade through Osaka, carrying portable shrines (mikoshi), accompanied by drummers, dancers, and lion performers.
River Procession (船渡御): As dusk falls, ornate boats carrying mikoshi float down the Okawa River, illuminated by lanterns and reflected in the water, creating a magical scene.
Tenjin Fireworks Display (天神祭奉納花火): End the festival with a spectacular fireworks show over the river, where 5,000 fireworks light up the night sky, synchronized with the floating boats below.
