Faqs

How does the screening system work for multiple films?

The festival operates on a “replacement system” for each individual work. This means that your ticket is valid for one specific film only. If you wish to see multiple movies, you must purchase a separate ticket for each scheduled time slot and vacate your seat between screenings.

What is the seating arrangement like at the venue?

As this is a community-run event at a community center, seating consists of chairs lined up on a flat floor with no elevation or height difference between rows. Please be aware that depending on where you sit, your view of the screen may be slightly obstructed by the person in front of you.

Are there any age restrictions for the films?

Most films are open to the general public; however, the final screening on Sunday, “The Stars and the Moon are Holes in the Sky,” is rated R18+. Per Japanese law and festival regulations, individuals under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited from entering this specific screening.

Can I buy tickets on the day of the event?

While same-day tickets may be sold at the venue, they will not be issued if the hall reaches its maximum capacity. To ensure you don’t miss a specific film, we highly recommend securing your tickets in advance through our concierge service.

How can I stay updated on guest appearances?

The Akita Jumonji Film Festival Executive Committee frequently updates their official social media accounts on Instagram, X, and Facebook with the latest guest announcements. We recommend checking these platforms in the days leading up to the festival for the most current schedule.
