Complete Details

Your private shore tour begins the moment you clear customs. Your English-speaking guide will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a welcome sign. For those docking in Yokohama, we provide a comfortable, air-conditioned transfer into central Tokyo (approx. 60 minutes), during which your guide will provide a briefing on Japanese customs and the day’s itinerary.

The morning is dedicated to the Meiji Shrine, where you can witness traditional Shinto weddings or cleansing rituals. This is followed by a drive through the Shibuya Scramble, allowing you to see the “neon canyon” of the city center without the fatigue of navigating the crowd on foot. At the Imperial Palace Plaza, your guide will explain the transition from the samurai-led Edo Castle to the modern Imperial residence.

A major feature of this tour is the visit to the Tokyo Skytree. Unlike generic tours that only drive past, we provide an opportunity to ascend this engineering marvel (schedule permitting). The tour concludes in Asakusa, where you can soak in the nostalgic charm of the Senso-ji Temple. Throughout the journey, you will travel in a luxury Toyota Alphard or Hiace Wagon, featuring superior comfort and in-car charging. The day ends with a reliable return transfer, ensuring you are back at your ship well before the final “all aboard” call.

FAQs

Will the tour pick me up if my ship docks at Daikoku Pier?

Yes. Since Daikoku Pier is located behind the Yokohama Bay Bridge, large ships like Ovation of the Seas often berth there. We provide door-to-door service from this terminal, which is otherwise difficult to access via public transport.

What is the “Back-to-Ship Guarantee”?

This is our commitment to your schedule. We monitor traffic and port logistics in real-time. Our itineraries are designed to return you to the port terminal at least 90 minutes before your ship’s scheduled departure, even in cases of unexpected delays.

Is Tokyo Skytree entry included for all itineraries?

Entry is typically included for the Ovation of the Seas schedule. For the ms Westerdam itinerary, the Skytree is often a “drive-by” highlight to accommodate specific docking times. However, since this is a private tour, we can adjust this based on your preference.

How do we find our guide at the busy Yokohama Port?

Yokohama has multiple piers (Osanbashi, Daikoku, Shinko). We will provide you with specific instructions and your guide’s contact details 24 hours before your arrival. Your guide will stand in the designated “Private Tour Meeting Point” with a Jasumo welcome board.

Can we visit the Tsukiji Fish Market instead of one of the shrines?

Absolutely. As a bespoke shore excursion, the itinerary is flexible. If you would prefer to visit Tsukiji Outer Market for a sushi lunch or explore the digital art at TeamLab, simply let your consultant know at the time of booking.
