Experience the joy of making mochi from scratch in a traditional Japanese setting. This immersive activity begins with a short introduction to the cultural and historical background of mochi. Then, participants take part in the process—steaming glutinous rice and using a wooden mallet (kine) and mortar (usu) to pound it into the soft, chewy mochi texture.
After the hard work, it’s time to enjoy the results. Savor your handmade mochi with a variety of toppings such as:
- Kinako (roasted soybean flour)
- Anko (sweet red bean paste)
- Nori (seaweed)
- Sweet soy sauce
All served with a warm cup of tea for a complete traditional experience.
