Full Description
Step into the serene world of traditional Japanese crafts with a Kintsugi experience held at Nihonbashi Mutoh, a historic lacquerware shop founded in 1923. Located in central Tokyo, this 90-minute session introduces you to Kintsugi—an art form that celebrates broken pottery by highlighting its cracks with golden seams, transforming flaws into beauty.
Your workshop begins with an introduction to the philosophy of Kintsugi, which embodies resilience, impermanence, and appreciation of life’s imperfections. Under the guidance of a friendly, English-speaking instructor, you’ll repair a real Arita ware plate—Japan’s first porcelain, treasured for over four centuries.
You’ll work with all necessary tools and materials provided, and no prior experience is needed. The workshop accommodates up to 8 participants, ensuring an intimate and peaceful atmosphere.
After completing your repair, your Arita ware plate is yours to keep—a meaningful, handmade souvenir and a lasting memory of your time in Japan.
