Full Description
This immersive Zen experience takes place at Jusho-in, a rarely accessible temple within the expansive Myoshin-ji complex, the largest Zen temple site in Japan. Your guide will greet you at the north gate of Myoshin-ji and lead you through the peaceful grounds to the temple.
Inside the temple, you will receive personal guidance from the abbot, Eitetsu Nishida, who brings a unique blend of spiritual depth and warm hospitality. After a short orientation, take part in two 20-minute zazen (seated meditation) sessions, designed to help quiet your mind and reconnect with your inner self.
After meditation, you’ll be introduced to the philosophy and practice of tea within Zen. Sip freshly whisked matcha and savor traditional seasonal sweets while enjoying panoramic views of a 400-year-old garden attributed to famed artist Kano Eitoku. This is a rare opportunity to reflect and slow down within a sacred space that most travelers never see.
A professional photographer will be present to discreetly capture moments of your journey, and digital copies of the photos will be sent to you afterward.
