Product Description

Dates: April 12 (Saturday) – May 18 (Sunday), 2025
Location: Ashikaga Flower Park, Tochigi Prefecture

Every spring, Ashikaga Flower Park becomes a floral wonderland during the Great Wisteria Festival, one of Japan’s most breathtaking seasonal celebrations. Stretching over multiple hectares, the park bursts into color with more than 350 wisteria trees blooming in mesmerizing waves of purple, pink, white, and yellow. The star of the show is a 160-year-old wisteria tree whose vast canopy spans over 1,000 square meters — a sight both magical and unforgettable.

Festival Highlights

The Great Wisteria
A majestic wisteria tree over 160 years old, spreading across a trellis area equal to 600 tatami mats. This single tree forms a breathtaking floral ceiling that bathes visitors in soft lavender hues.

Wisteria Tunnels
Enjoy walking beneath dreamy blossom tunnels, including an 80-meter-long white wisteria tunnel and the radiant Laburnum tunnel, surrounded by golden blooms. These floral passages are among the most popular photo spots in the park.

Color Waves
Wisteria varieties bloom in sequence — beginning with soft pink, then lavender purple, followed by snow-white, and finally golden-yellow. This natural rhythm ensures a continuously evolving floral display over the course of the festival.

Evening Light-Up (April 19 – May 18)
As night falls, the wisteria are illuminated, creating a dreamlike glow across the garden. Reflections dance on the water, and the park takes on a romantic, ethereal atmosphere perfect for twilight strolls and photography.
