Product Description
The Mishima Skywalk Hydrangea Festival is a breathtaking annual event held from mid-June to mid-July at the Mishima Skywalk, located in Shizuoka Prefecture. Known for being Japan’s longest suspension footbridge, the Skywalk is an ideal location to showcase the vibrant beauty of hydrangeas. During the festival, over 13,000 hydrangeas bloom across a stunning 205 varieties, including unique cultivars such as ‘Skywalk’, ‘Haou’, and ‘Natsuzora.’
The event offers visitors a chance to enjoy a scenic 2-kilometer walk across the suspension bridge, with panoramic views of Suruga Bay and, on clear days, the majestic Mount Fuji. The hydrangeas line the walking paths, creating an enchanting atmosphere, especially during the evenings when the flowers are illuminated.
Event Highlights:
- Hydrangea Displays: The festival features a wide range of hydrangeas, from traditional varieties to rare and exotic cultivars. The flowers are displayed along the paths of the Skywalk, and visitors can enjoy the picturesque landscapes and vibrant colors.
- Evening Illuminations: From June 21 to July 7, the hydrangeas are beautifully lit up in the evening from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The soft lights add a magical touch to the event, enhancing the charm of the flowers against the backdrop of the stunning night sky.
- Hydrangea-Themed Snacks: The festival offers special food and beverages, including hydrangea-colored soft serve ice cream, grape soda topped with cotton candy, and hydrangea-shaped chocolate churros, allowing visitors to enjoy the theme even with their taste buds.
