This iconic all-night outdoor rock event—first held in 1999—has become one of Japan’s most anticipated summer festivals. Set on a sprawling site surrounded by the natural beauty of Hokkaido, RSR is a vibrant pop-up town fueled by the passion of music lovers and built from the ground up each year.

About the Festival

The Rising Sun Rock Festival (RSR) began in 1999 as Japan’s first all-night outdoor rock event. Built from scratch each year on bare land, RSR becomes a temporary music town — with electricity, water, stages, and community spirit — hosting thousands of fans under the night sky and the rising sun.
